The Sacrifice - Scene 5 - Chaos

Image
Eu me lembro quando   vi pela primeira vez   este filme   em 1986 . T inha acabado de   ser lançado.   Com esse filme, Tarkovsky abriu milhões de portinhas no meu cérebro .  Sai do cinema in transe. Eu amo  cada cena desse filme maravilhoso .   Especialmente   essa seqüência que coloco aqui no blog .   Para os que não conhecem esse trabalho, notem que beleza de fotografia.     Eu estou amando   assistir The Sacrifice   novamente.    http://youtu.be/s-I7EexTIVw (Uma c uriosidade:.  a abertura do   vídeo da musica   Losing   My Religion   do REM   faz   uma homenagem ao   início   de uma cena desse filme ) I remember when I first saw this film in 1986, it had just came out. It blew my mind. I love everything about it. Specially this sequence. Absolute genius. I am loving watching it again. http://youtu.be/s-I7EexTIVw  (f...

Woody Allen: A Documentary

Image
http://video.pbs.org/video/2169247968# Woody Allen: A Documentary Woody Allen: A Documentary - part 1 was on on PBS last night and it was truly a great show. If you have a chance check it out. You can watch it by clicking on the link above. Here's a note written about it for E.W. by Owen Gleiberman: The first thing to say about the two-part, 3-hour-and-15-minute American Masters special Woody Allen: A Documentary , which airs tonight and tomorrow on PBS, is that it mixes things you already know with things you didn’t know in an avidly enjoyable, Woody-nostalgia way. Here’s something, for instance, that I didn’t know: Allen still does all his writing on the same tiny typewriter he has owned since he was 16 — a German-made Olympia portable that he purchased for $40 in 1952. He’s written all his movies on it, all his plays, and all his New Yorker pieces. The typewriter is missing its top, so you can see those primitive reel-to-reel ink cartridges, but...

JESUS WAS A COMMIE

Image
click image to enlarge   JESUS WAS A COMMIE – a movie by Matthew Modine, was particularly interesting to me due to the fact that I was raised by a half Catholic, half Buddhist mom. In my view, Matthew’s argument is that Jesus was a communist because of the way that he spread the idea that all people are the same and deserve equal rights and opportunities. Matthew talks about how Jesus revolution completely changed the way people thought and how it opened up theirs hearts to love and forgiveness. He talks about the fact that Jesus was able to change people without the use of force or any kind of violence. The movie does not talk about the politics of religion but rather seems to focus on Jesus and other spiritual leaders and how their teachings are similar to the communist philosophy. I was brought up going to church and learning about Jesus teachings, but mom had a way of making it all make sense to my brothers and I by giving the catholic ideology a little Buddhist...

Immersive Cocoon

Image
Immersive Cocoon: http://bit.ly/f2mz07 This spec teaser reveals an evolution in computing interaction, within a setting inspired by the penultimate scene from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Starring the lead actor from that film, Keir Dullea, live action was filmed multi-camera, against greenscreen atop a backlit plexi floor on a shoestring budget. Mr. Dullea was then integrated into an entirely digitally created 3D set rendered at 1080HD. The Immersive Cocoon is a future concept study by Tino Schaedler with design collective NAU ; an idea to push the envelope and provoke a new conception of interface technology.

In a Sentimental Mood with amazing Mr. Les Goodson

In a Sentimental Mood and why I LOVE NEW YORK!

Image
http://vimeo.com/21660130 (click the link to watch Les Goodson playing In a Sentimental Mood. If link doesn't work, copy and paste the link onto your browser) On this particular evening, I was on my way home, tired and cold, and was about to take a taxi when I decided to quit being a sissy and take the train. Boy I am glad I did! In the subway station I met Les Goodson, the saxophone player that is playing in this video. His music put a big smile on my face and filled my heart with joy. I shot this little movie using my beloved iPhone. It amazes me that a musician of this caliber has to play in a subway station in order to make a couple of bucks. But in a selfish way, I am glad they do. This was a treat. Les Goodson band plays at Paris Blues, every Wednesday, from 8pm-12am PARIS BLUES 2021 Adam Clayton Power Jr Blvd at 121st Street 212-222-9878
